Has your business been affected by COVID-19?

The Wage Subsidy August 2021 has been announced. This is a payment to support employers, so they can continue to pay employees and protect jobs for businesses affected by the move to Alert Level 4 on 17th August 2021.

  • Available NOW (Friday 20th August 2021), open for two weeks
  • Self employed can apply
  • Businesses can apply for funding for employees (don’t forget to apply for yourself if you work in your own company)
  • You can’t apply for the same employee twice for the same period

There is also the COVID-19 Leave Support Scheme and the Short-Term Absence Payment available to employers and the self-employed.

NOTE: You cannot claim COVID-19 Wage Subsidy August 2021 and Leave Support Scheme simultaneously for the same employee, at the same time.

To get the COVID-19 Wage Subsidy August 2021 you must:

  • meet the 40% revenue decline test set out in the declaration, and
  • sign the declaration – online connected to application
  • meet ALL the other eligibility criteria set out in the declaration

Criteria and obligations to employees are similar to previous wage subsidies, in that you are expected to pass the subsidy on to your employees and keep them employed. Full details are laid out on the declaration form.

The Wage Subsidy August 2021 will cover a two week period at the rate of:

  • $600 a week for each full-time employee retained (20 hours a week or more)
  • $359 a week for each part-time employee retained (less than 20 hours a week)

You may also be able to get the Resurgence Support Payment from Inland Revenue to help with business costs.
