Changes to cash or EFTPOS Payments at Westpac

Effective 1st October 2020, any Tax Payments made via a Westpac branch or via a Smart ATM, will only be accepted if it has an IRD barcode. This is to ensure that the payment goes to the right account.

Where can I find the barcode?

Barcodes are printed on Inland Revenue returns, statements or letters.

A barcode can also be generated on the IRD website using this link.

These can either be printed or shown on your mobile device.

Other payment options:

  • Online banking – use the “pay tax” function through your online banking account
  • myIR – direct debit and card payments can be made directly through the myIR secure online service
  • Self-service phoneline – credit or debit cards can be used to make payments via the self-service 24/7 phoneline
  • Automatic payments – This option allows for two signatories and can be used for regular reoccurring payments such as debts or arrears. Note: an IR586 Authority form is required for this option.

More details on the above options can be found on the IRD website.
