The Firm

Graham Brown & Co Limited is one of the largest professional organisations in the South Waikato.  We have earned a reputation for excellence and our commitment and service to our clients has seen us grow steadily over the years.

The firms story began in 1981, when David Graham formed a partnership with Don Wood - known as Wood Graham & Associates.

In 1988 David set up as a Sole Practitioner under the name David S Graham Chartered Accountant.  And became well known for his depth of knowledge and experience in the agricultural industry.

Ros Brown joined the firm in 1989 and in 1992 the partnership of Graham Brown & Co was officially formed.  When Ros first joined the firm, there were 10 employees and two partners.  Ros helped the practice develop a focus on forestry and commercial operations, from her knowledge of both Management Accounting as well as Financial and Tax reporting.  David and Ros both retired a number of years ago, but continue to support the practice in a consultancy role when needed.

Brendon Hunt joined the firm in 1994.  Brendon has many years farm accounting and taxation experience and offers specialist tax advice in this area.  He has over the years seen many clients grow and prosper and has a broad range of clients, from large scale farming operations, small to medium businesses operating in the retail, farm and service sectors, to Trusts and Charities.

Phillip Price joined the firm in 2004, and also offers specialist tax advice to rural clients.  Coming from Beattie Rickman (now Price Waterhouse Coopers), Phillip has many years corporate experience and also brings to the firm a depth of knowledge in restructuring & tax - not just for the primary sector, but for commercial operations also.

Debbie Gisby has been with the firm since 2001, and specialises in commercial operations and not-for-profits.  Her background and experience in successful business management, and management accounting means that she can offer not only tax advice, but also practical business solutions at a grass roots level.

This broad range of skills from the principals and team and a dedication to continuous improvement have helped the practice grow year on year.  From a small staff, the firm has grown into the 35 plus team practice it is today.

Graham Brown is committed to providing ongoing training and support for their staff.  This investment in people ensures competency of staff in keeping up with changes in laws, statutory requirements & market trends.  Graham Brown are proud to be members of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of New Zealand (NZICA), as well as a NZICA Approved Training Organisation (ATO).

Graham Brown values the support it has from local and surrounding communities, and takes pride in putting back something into the district in which it operates.  Our team are keen participators in various sporting teams based locally, and many are also involved in running local not-for-profit groups.  In-house, the firm completes honorary compilations for over 40 various local clubs and organisations.
